Can you quantify the Q4 HLM tender shift by region and the incremental revenue expected in Q1 2026 from those tenders?
Analysis of Q4 HLM Tender Shift by Region and Incremental Q1 2026 Revenue Impact
LivaNova indicated that some planned placements and tender activities for heart-lung machines (HLM) that were initially scheduled for Q4 2025 shifted into 2026, moderating the fourth quarter's contribution to growth. However, management described the volume of this shift as "not super material" and characterized it as relatively modest in size 12.
Specific regional breakdowns of these shifted tenders were not disclosed explicitly in the filings; the commentary implies the shift was probably spread within their global footprint but without differentiation by geography.
The Q4 HLM revenue growth was in the mid-single digits, driven by increased Essence placements and favorable pricing premiums 1.
Essence represented approximately 55% of annual HLM units placed in 2025, with a planned upgrade cycle aiming for about 80% Essence placements by 2026, which underpins continued HLM demand 13.
LivaNova management expects to "fully recapture" the revenue from the shifted tenders in Q1 2026, indicating that the moved business will mostly contribute to early 2026's results rather than being lost or reduced 42.
The company incorporated this recapturing fully into their 2026 full-year guidance, meaning the impact is neutral on the annual outlook but front-loaded into Q1 4.
While the exact dollar or unit amount for the shifted tenders was not provided, the qualitative description that it is "not super material" suggests it is a modest but notable timing difference rather than a large sales miss.
Given the forecasted cardiopulmonary revenue growth of 7% to 8% for 2026, which includes continued HLM growth and Essence penetration globally, the tender timing shift is viewed as a temporary timing variance within this expected growth framework 3.
The strong demand for oxygenators and consumables continues, with consumables revenue growth in the low to mid-teens, which complements the HLM upgrade and placement activities 31.
Manufacturing capacity expansion and third-party supplier partnerships aim to support increased output, addressing prior supply constraints and enabling better fulfillment of both new placements and consumables demand 31.
Management’s conservative but confident guidance philosophy anticipates these timing shifts while maintaining robust overall growth, including fully factoring in any seasonal tender movements 42.
| Aspect | Details | Citation(s) |
|---|---|---|
| Q4 Tender Shift Magnitude | Modest, “not super material” volume of tenders shifted from Q4 2025 into 2026 | 412 |
| Regional Quantification | Not explicitly quantified or broken down by region | 12 |
| Impact on Revenue Timing | Revenue fully recaptured in Q1 2026, included in full-year guidance, no net annual loss | 42 |
| HLM Growth Drivers | Essence placements increase (from 55% to ~80%), favorable price premiums | 13 |
| Cardiopulmonary Revenue Growth | Forecasted 7%-8% growth in 2026 including HLM and consumables; tender timing shift included | 31 |
In conclusion, LivaNova experienced a minor timing shift of HLM tenders from Q4 2025 to Q1 2026 without material impact on full-year growth expectations. The delayed tender revenues are expected to be fully realized in Q1 2026, supporting early-year cardiopulmonary revenue growth consistent with the company's 7-8% guidance range. The lack of explicit regional tender quantification suggests no significant regional concentration or risk tied to this shift. The company’s guidance framework prudently incorporates this timing delay while projecting continued strong demand for HLM products globally, especially driven by Essence upgrade penetration.

Wells Fargo expects fourth-quarter 2026 net interest income of about $13 billion, supported by loan and deposit growth, asset repricing, higher securities balances, and rates. The full-year outlook remains $50 billion, plus or minus. Management did not disclose a numerical Q4 markets/non-markets split; its roughly $1.8 billion markets estimate applies to the full year, not the quarter.

Cintas raised its FY2027 incremental-margin outlook to 32%–34% and expects results in the range’s upper half, while cautioning that quarterly progress will be uneven. Workday comparisons, a demanding Q4 comparison, energy assumptions, and cost controls are key factors shaping the outlook; guidance also excludes UniFirst-related transaction costs and assumes no further acquisitions.

AutoZone outlines a store-maturation-driven ROIC story, highlighting zero ROIC in the first year and a path to above 20% by year six, with ~15% by year four. The majority of near-term ROIC gains come from UDS customers through faster delivery and expanded inventory, while national accounts offer longer-term upside but without separate ROIC targets disclosed.

Management attributes the near-term gross-margin pressure to a rapid ramp in custom products, noting that mix is the primary driver of the Q3 margin decline and that the forecast assumes continued custom growth. They expect the broader Data Center mix—anchored by connectivity and other segments—to stabilize margins in Q4, with margins remaining in the existing range into fiscal 2028 despite ongoing custom expansion.
